The Bag-in-Box system solves a fundamental problem in bulk liquid packaging that bottles, jugs, and rigid dispensers cannot: how to dispense liquid repeatedly over weeks or months without introducing air that degrades the remaining product. The answer lies in the BIB’s signature engineering principle — as liquid is dispensed through the tap, the flexible inner bag collapses around the decreasing volume, preventing ambient air from ever contacting the liquid. This means coffee concentrate, wine, juice syrup, or liquid dairy can remain fresh for 6-8 weeks after first opening, compared to just days in an opened rigid container.
For foodservice operators, the economics are compelling. A single 10L BIB replaces approximately twenty 500ml bottles — eliminating the labor of opening individual containers, reducing packaging waste by over 80%, and cutting storage space requirements by two-thirds. The outer corrugated carton provides stacking strength for palletized shipping and warehouse storage while protecting the inner bag from puncture during handling.
The integrated push-button dispenser tap features a self-closing spring valve that stops flow instantly when released — no dripping, no mess, no waste. For high-volume dispensing applications like coffee shops and juice bars, the tap is compatible with standard BIB dispensing racks and pumps. The wide-mouth top fill port with screw cap enables rapid filling on automated production lines, with the cap providing a secondary seal in addition to the dispenser tap.
Available in formats from compact 3L retail countertop units to 20L foodservice bulk formats. The outer carton accepts full-color flexographic printing for brand presence, while the inner bag can feature metallic gravure printing for premium coffee and wine brands. Key applications: cold brew coffee concentrate, wine and cocktail dispensing, juice and smoothie syrups, liquid dairy and creamers, post-mix beverage syrups, and cooking oil dispensing for commercial kitchens.

BIB packaging involves two distinct printing processes: gravure printing for the inner bag and flexographic printing for the outer carton — each optimized for its specific substrate and function.
The inner bag uses rotogravure on aluminum foil laminate, with metallic ink formulations that create a premium shimmer effect on the foil surface. Copper, bronze, and deep navy inks are particularly effective for coffee and wine brands seeking to communicate quality through packaging. The print is applied before lamination, meaning it is sandwiched between film layers and fully protected from moisture, condensation, and abrasion during use.
The outer carton employs water-based flexographic printing on kraft or white-coated corrugated board. This delivers bold, readable brand graphics and usage instructions at a cost-effective price point appropriate for bulk B2B packaging. For premium retail-facing countertop BIBs (3L-5L), we offer high-gloss lithographic label application over flexo-printed cartons for photographic-quality brand imagery.
An important functional print element unique to BIB is the fill-level indicator — a transparent viewing stripe on the carton aligned with a clear window strip on the inner bag, allowing foodservice staff to visually check remaining volume without opening the box. This feature alone can reduce product waste by preventing premature reordering.
The BIB inner bag represents the most technically demanding lining structure in flexible packaging — it must combine the oxygen barrier performance of retort-grade laminates with the mechanical flexibility to collapse completely as liquid is dispensed, all while supporting a welded-in dispenser tap that endures thousands of open-close cycles.
Our construction uses a multi-layer EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol) barrier core rather than standard aluminum foil in premium configurations. EVOH provides oxygen barrier performance approaching foil levels (OTR <1 cc/m²/day) while offering superior flex-crack resistance — critical when the bag must fold and collapse repeatedly without developing micro-pinholes that would compromise the barrier. For ultra-long shelf life applications like wine and coffee concentrate, an aluminum foil core variant is available with OTR below 0.1 cc/m²/day.
The tap weld zone is reinforced with an additional sealing layer that increases the bond strength around the tap flange by 40% compared to the bag body seals. This is the highest-stress point in any BIB system — it must withstand the full hydraulic weight of 20L of liquid plus the mechanical force of repeated dispensing. Our tap weld integrity is verified through 100% pressure-decay testing on every production batch before shipment.
